MANITOWOC – Lighthouse Recovery Community Center will host an open house and ribbon-cutting to celebrate its new recovery residence for women with children July 30.

The non-profit, which serves folks in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties, provides resources, education and support to anyone who has been impacted by addiction.

The new Women with Children in Recovery Residence, at 721 Park St., offers a place to live to pregnant women and women with children, providing a safe and sober house for mothers, allowing them to remain with their children while they continue to attend treatment and recovery programming.

Lighthouse Recovery will host an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. July 30 with a ribbon-cutting at 4:30 p.m. Local public officials, including state Attorney General Josh Kaul, as well as a representative from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, have been invited.

The event is free and open to the public.

Lighthouse Recovery moved into its new community center at 818 State St. in mid-May. Administrators and the board of directors of the growing nonprofit purchased the site after it became available about a year-and-a-half ago. Work then began at its old location at 712 Park St., now the women and children’s residence.

The nonprofit honors all pathways to recovery and provides support to anyone who has been affected by addiction.

Ground broken on new hotel: Manitowoc's first new hotel in more than 20 years will be a Hampton Inn by Hilton near I-43. Ground was broken on the project in June.
