Remnants of Hurricane Beryl forecasted to hit Kentucky. Here’s what to expect.

Remnants of Hurricane Beryl are expected to hit Kentucky on Tuesday, bringing with it chances of strong or severe storms, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Hurricane Beryl is expected to reach the eastern portion of coastal Texas Monday. Afterward, the NWS projects the hurricane to travel northeast through the Mississippi and Ohio valleys, reaching portions of Kentucky on Tuesday.

A few strong or severe storms will be possible Tuesday afternoon into the evening, depending on the cloud cover beforehand, according to the NWS forecast. Damaging winds and brief spin-up tornadoes are the main severe threats with the storms. Flash flooding is also possible in the areas that get the heavy rainfall.

Virtually all of Kentucky, including Lexington, except the most eastern counties is under a marginal risk for severe weather, according to the NWS’ severe weather outlook. A marginal risk implies severe storms of either limited organization and longevity.

Chances of rain diminish Thursday heading into the weekend, according to the NWS. High temperatures this week are expected to at least be in the mid 80s with some days reaching the 90s.
