MILTON, Fl. (WKRG) – Northwest Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz hosted a Campaign Rally at Gulf Coast Gun and Outdoors Saturday.

Gaetz launched his re-election in early June for the District One seat.

“I think I’ve done a good job representing this community,” Gaetz said.

The venue was packed with hundreds of supporters as Gaetz spoke about why he thinks there is a need to secure gun rights in the state of Florida.

He was joined by Second Amendment activist, Kyle Rittenhouse.

“I don’t think there should be a 4473 to buy a gun, I don’t think there should be a waitlist, I don’t think we should have red flag laws. Everything that the ATF has introduced, and bad politicians, have been a violation of our constitutional rights, and we need to fix that,” Rittenhouse said.

Gaetz says when it comes to the increase of gun violence in the community it boils down to being a responsible gun owner.

“Certainly, when you got guns that are not accounted for or used in an improper manner there can be a real recipe for violence,” Gaetz said. “But that’s not the fault of the firearm that’s the fault of the person using the firearm.”

Gaetz will face off against Aaron Dimmock, who is also pro-gun, in the Republican primary on Aug. 20.
