The Food Establishment Inspection Report is a weekly report that appears Sundays. Information is taken from reports provided by the Environmental Health Department, and individual reports can be viewed at its website, http://amarillo.gov/departments/community-services/environmental-health/foodinspections. A numerical grading system is now being used, with a score of 100 points being equivalent to zero demerits.

  • 100 points – No major violation at the time of inspection

  • 85 points – Considered an average score

  • 70 points or below – Requires re-inspection within 24 hours

  • COS – Corrected on site during inspection

These points correspond to the following letter grades:

  • A – 90 to 100

  • B – 80 to 89

  • C – 70 to 79

  • F – 69 and below

Amarillo Blvd. Old food debris encrusted on in-use spoons for bulk food items; no chlorine bleach sanitizer prepared; no soap at hand sink; small cooler of ice used for customer drinks stored in three-compartment sink. COS. Menu must be updated to specifically indicate which nuts are used in facility; moist foods being cut on deeply scored wood cutting board; multiple dead roaches in facility; one live roach crawling near mop sink; cereal containers stored on floor under bar; containers of white powder not labeled; old waffle residue on wall behind food prep able; Correct by 07/15. Drink splatter and dust accumulating on several shelves; mold beginning to accumulate on shelves inside drink coolers near registers; wall in men’s restroom needs to be painted; hole in wall in women’s restroom must be repaired. (A/92) Jorges Mexican Bar & Grill, 6051 Bell St. Cold hold make table on left in back of kitchen not holding food at proper temperature; drawers under cook top on right of kitchen holding ground beef at improper temperature; spray bottle in bar area not labeled; single-use cup used as scoop in flour bin. COS. Cutting surfaces of make tables deeply scored and need to be replaced. Correct by 10/01.

(A/95) Latin Market Cuban Foods, 1407 N. Grand St. #100. Several food items need to be labeled; no towels at hand sinks in restroom and back room. Correct by 07/.18.

(B/87) Little Caesars, 306 23rd St., Canyon. Pizza racks dirty with debris and food from previous use; manager did not use proper hand washing procedure; battery must be replaced in food thermometer. COS. CFM certificate must be provided. Correct by 07/13.Multiple pests inside building; pizzas not covered; debris build-up on racks; no food handler certificates on premises. Correct by 11/01.
