Take a Ride on Us offers discounted Uber rides for Independence Day

Jul. 3—Residents of Sandoval, Bernalillo and Santa Fe counties have a safe designated driver option for the Fourth of July weekend.

The Take a Ride on Us program is offering 2,500 Uber ride vouchers on a first-come, first-served basis. Riders can enter the code NMFREE24 under the vouchers section of the Uber app to receive a credit of up to $10 off two trips. The program begins at 10 a.m. Thursday and runs through Sunday. The credit does not cover Uber Eats or driver tips.

Since the program began in the summer of 2017, it has provided safe rides to more than 49,000 riders in the Albuquerque metro area, according to a news release sent by Bernalillo County, which contributes $80,000 to the annual effort by using money generated by liquor excise taxes.

Cumulus Media Albuquerque, Bernalillo County Department of Behavioral Health Services, Sandoval County DWI Prevention, Santa Fe County DWI Prevention, Glasheen Valles and Inderman law firm, Sandia Resort & Casino and the New Mexico Department of Transportation are partners in the program.
