Rite Aid to close one Lima location

Jul. 1—LIMA — One of the five Rite Aid stores in Lima will close after a notice of additional closing stores was filed Friday in Rite Aid's bankruptcy case in the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey.

The store located at 302 W. Robb Ave. was included on a list of 16 Ohio stores and 14 Michigan stores set to close soon. A Rite Aid in Findlay at 1501 N. Main St. was also on the list. Just a few weeks ago, the St. Marys store at 1502 Executive Drive was on the closing list.

The closing Lima store has posted a sign in the window saying the pharmacy will close on July 10 and all prescriptions will move to the Walgreens at 701 N. Cable Road with a QR code that leads to a Walgreens page answering questions about the transfer. Prescriptions will be automatically transferred to the nearest Walgreens, the page said.

Hundreds of Rite Aid locations have closed since the national pharmacy chain filed a voluntary petition for Chapter 11 reorganization in court in October 2023 to help reduce debt and deal with lawsuits. At that time, the company mentioned more than 2,000 Rite Aid stores; now Rite Aid's website shows 1,592 locations, 142 of which are in Ohio.

No other area Rite Aid stores appear on the recent notice of closures. The closest was another store in Dayton at 3700 N. Dixie Drive.
