ROAD CLOSING: King Road at State Highway 66 to close July 29

Jul. 24—The Oklahoma Department of Transportation will close King Road at its intersection with State Highway 66 July 29.

The closure will last about two months, said Rogers County spokesperson Diana Dickinson.

The stretch of road includes two neighborhoods, King Road Baptist Church and Catalayah Elementary School. Dickinson said drivers will be able to access these via either West Country Club and Southaven roads or East 520 and South 4120 roads.

Southaven Road has been closed to all but local traffic for more than a year. Dickinson said it would reopen before King Road closes.

The closure is the third phase of the State Highway 20 realignment project, which will shift the course of the highway south and connect it to State Highway 66 and the Will Rogers Turnpike.

ODOT crews will widen King Road, a component of the realignment project's efforts to enhance the intersection between King and Flint roads.

The third phase of the project is estimated to cost nearly $22.1 million.
