Road work coming to Missouri Route 43 this week

KSNF/KODE — Starting this week, Jasper and Newton County drivers should expect to see some road changes to Missouri Route 43.

Come Monday, construction is set to begin on Missouri Route 43 also known as Main Street and 34th Street.

Contractors will begin working on the shoulders and median of Main Street and Hearnes Boulevard.

MoDOT workers will be adding a northbound turning lane, installing new street lighting, replacing current traffic signals with new ones on poles and permanent striping, and slightly widening right turn lanes.

Drivers are urged to use caution as crews and equipment will be working close to traffic.

Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zones.

MoDOT encourages drivers to find alternate routes around work zones.

From August 12 through the 16, northbound on Main Street will close around the clock while crews work on storm sewers.

The construction is all part of the intersection improvements project set to end in the winter of 2024.
