Road construction update: Part of US 127 south of I-496 to close Sunday

LANSING — Northbound U.S. 127 will be closed between Interstates 96 and 496 on Sunday afternoon for shoulder and guardrail repairs.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said the closure will include "multiple ramps" and last from about noon until 5 p.m. The agency did not specify which ramps will be closed.

MDOT is rebuilding that stretch of the freeway in 2024 and 2025.

All traffic is being carried on the southbound side this year while the northbound lanes are being rebuilt.

That pattern will be reversed next year.
