Roanoke man arrested after drug investigation leads to seizure of over 59 lbs. of alleged Methamphetamine

ABINGDON, Va. (WFXR)– The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports a Roanoke man was one of two individuals arrested after an extensive drug investigation, which led to the alleged possession of a substantial amount of methamphetamine on Wednesday, July 24.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies conducted search warrants at two locations in Washington County in connection to the investigation. The first search warrant was conducted during a traffic stop, where approximately four pounds of alleged methamphetamine and one ounce of alleged fentanyl were located and found in the vehicle.

The second search warrant was served at a residence in Abingdon, where deputies allegedly located and seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, and a firearm.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports search warrants were also obtained for a residence and a storage locker in Roanoke and Salem. Served warrants led to the seizure of 59 pounds of alleged methamphetamine, with the street value estimated to be worth $1.9 million.

As a result of the search warrants, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department arrested 45-year-old Tyrone Robert Irving from Roanoke and 29-year-old Brock Dalton Widener of Abingdon. They were charged with:

Irving:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine

  • Conspiracy with Intent to Distribute of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, Fentanyl

  • Possession with Intent to commit an act of terrorism Possess a weapon of terrorism, controlled substance, Fentanyl

Widener:

  • Possession of firearms while in possession of Schedule I or II Controlled Substances

  • Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine

  • Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, Fentanyl

  • Possession of firearms by a convicted felon

Both men are currently being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority without bond.
