Robber wearing a ski mask holds up gold exchange store in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — An armed man is suspected of robbing an American Gold Exchange store in the Teralta West neighborhood Saturday, said the San Diego Police Department.

According to authorities, the 35-year-old suspect entered the store, located at 4109 El Cajon Blvd., shortly after 5 p.m. He was wearing a ski mask and waving a handgun, while demanding money from the employees.

The employees complied and provided the suspect with some cash, police said. The amount of money handed over to the man was not disclosed.

The suspect then ran from the store as officers were arriving. The department said a short foot chase followed and officers were able to take the suspect into custody. The gun and cash were recovered at that time.

The suspect, whose identity was not released, was arrested on suspicion of robbery. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
