Rochester police investigating death of 22-year-old man found in home

Jul. 25—ROCHESTER — The Rochester Police Department found a 22-year-old man dead in his home on July 21 while responding to a welfare check.

Police responded to the 10-block of Sixth Avenue Southeast earlier this week. According to Amanda Grayson, RPD crime prevention and communications coordinator, there were no immediate signs of trauma.

An active investigation is underway because of the man's age, Grayson said. Police are working with the medical examiner's office to determine the cause and manner of his death.

The man has been identified as Ethan Plonka, according to the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office.
