Rockford felon wanted on charges of murdering a baby is arrested in Atlanta

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police found the man suspected of murdering a 10-month-old baby, domestic battery, stalking, burglary, and more crimes in Atlanta, Georgia Saturday morning.

According to police, Zashawntray Pickett, 28, is wanted on four outstanding warrants that also include charges of criminal trespass, criminal damage to property, and theft.

The charges against him were filed in four cases dating back to August 2023 and as recent as October 2024. The victim was known to Pickett, according to the City of Rockford.

Picket was previously sentenced to 2 years in prison in 2021 for a 2019 Thanksgiving weekend crime spree that included an armed robbery at Popeye’s, 3622 Auburn Street.
