NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Early voting for the Aug. 1 state and federal primary election begins on Friday in Nashville. Scores of Davidson County voters may head to the polls for the 14-day early voting period ahead of Election Day on Aug. 1.

Numerous state and federal offices will be on the ballots for the Democratic and Republican primaries, as well as local offices for Metro Nashville. The Davidson County general election and Oak Hill municipal elections will also be held Aug. 1.

Federal offices on the ballot include Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s seat and Reps. Andy Ogles, John Rose and Mark Green. Blackburn faces a primary challenge from Tres Wittum, according to the sample ballot. Rep. Andy Ogles faces a challenge from Metro Councilwoman Courtney Johnston. Rose and Green are running unopposed in their primaries.

On the Democratic ballot, four people are hoping to be the nominee to run against Blackburn. State Rep. Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville) is facing off against Marquita Bradshaw, Lola Denise Brown and Civil Miller-Watkins to take on the senator. Maryam Abolfazli is running unopposed for the U.S. District 5 seat currently held by Ogles. Lore Bergman, Clay Faircloth and Cyril Focht each hope to be the one to take on Rose, and former Nashville Mayor Megan Barry is hoping to unseat Green.

Statewide, the seats of incumbents Sen. Heidi Campbell (D-20) and Reps. Bo Mitchell (D-50), Aftyn Behn (D-51), Justin Jones (D-52), Jason Powell (D-53), Vincent Dixie (D-54), John Ray Clemmons (D-55), Bob Freeman (D-56), Harold Love (D-58) and Caleb Hemmer (D-59) are all on the ballot, as is retired Rep. Darren Jernigan (D-60).

Campbell, Mitchell, Behn, Jones, Powell, Dixie, Clemmons, Love and Hemmer are all unopposed in their primaries, while Freeman will face a challenge from Nick Forster-Benson. On the Republican ballot, Wyatt Rampy is running for Campbell’s seat unopposed; Metro Councilwoman Jennifer Frensley Webb is unopposed for Mitchell’s seat; Laura Nelson is seeking Jones’ seat; and Yog Nepal is seeking the District 53 seat. No Republican candidates qualified for the ballot in Districts 51, 54, 55, 56, 58, or 59.

For Jernigan’s seat, Chad Bobo and Christopher Huff are vying for the Republican nomination, while Tyler Brasher, Shaundelle Brooks and John W. Parrish seek the Democratic nod.

Early voting begins at 8 a.m. Friday, July 12 and runs through Saturday, July 27 at 4:30 p.m.
