San Bernardino Sheriff’s detective passed away from ‘work-related illness’

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is remembering the loss of one of their own this week.

“Detective Armando Cantu passed away on November 18, 2021, from a work-related illness,” the Sheriff’s Department posted on its Facebook page Monday.

No further details regarding the illness were provided but the post stated that Cantu was a 14-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department who had also served in the United States Marine Corps.

Cantu is survived by his wife and son.

“Please take a moment today to remember Detective Armando Cantu, who made the ultimate sacrifice,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
