Santa Fe man accused of hitting car in road rage incident

Jul. 2—A Santa Fe man faces a string of felony charges after an alleged road rage incident on the city's south side Monday evening.

Santa Fe police arrested Patrick Henry Morrison, 78, on suspicion he struck a woman's vehicle several times on Rodeo Road after she sped past him, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Santa Fe County Magistrate Court.

Morrison faces six felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of failing to give information and render aid after an accident, the complaint states.

Morrison was arrested by police Monday night and booked into Santa Fe County jail, according to an online jail database.

He was still being held as of Tuesday afternoon. Morrison's arraignment was delayed until Wednesday for prosecutors to investigate whether to request to hold him pending a trial, according to a court order filed Tuesday.

A woman alleged Morrison, driving a pickup, did not allow her to merge onto Rodeo from Old Las Vegas Highway, so she sped ahead of him, police wrote in a statement of probable cause filed against Morrison. She alleged to police he "rammed" the back of her car six times after cursing at her at a stoplight, the statement says.

Police wrote the woman dialed 911 and reported Morrison's license plate number before he sped off. The woman did not suffer any serious injuries from the incident, according to the statement.
