Scaffolds blanket City Hall as window replacement work continues

Jul. 29—Extensive window replacement work at St. Joseph's chief administration building continued in the sweltering summer heat on Monday.

Large scaffolding could be seen blanketing the front of City Hall on Monday part of a large window replacement project that began in June and is expected to last until the fall.

Access through the front entrance was still available Monday despite the equipment being out front.

The $2.2 million project will see a total of 138 windows removed and replaced. Many of the windows are part of the original building constructed in 1927.

Replacement of the windows is expected to boost the efficiency of air conditioning and heating, especially during the extreme temperatures of Midwest seasons like today, where heat index values up to 112 degrees are expected.

Kansas City-based company Timekey Glazing, an expert in window installation, was contracted to carry out the project. Scaffolds were provided by fellow Kansas City-based company KC Scaffold.
