MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people are dead following a shooting that took place Monday in Southeast Shelby County, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they responded to a shooting around 5:15 a.m. in the 7600 block of Newfound Gap Road near East Shelby Drive in the Pinnacle Point neighborhood.

A woman was found dead at the scene and a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was then taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition where he later died, deputies say.

Neighbors say they are very familiar with the couple who stayed at the home.

“There was an argument a couple of months ago in the middle of the street too. The sheriffs had to come for that too,” one neighbor said.

Before the deadly shooting, the neighbor says he heard “domestic screaming in the streets”.

Neighbors told WREG that by the time the deputies arrived, the couple had been arguing for nearly an hour.

“I thought I was dreaming at first but then I went outside and saw the argument,” he said. “The woman and man fighting.”

According to the Memphis Data Hub, a domestic violence incident occurred in this neighborhood in March.

However, Shelby County Deputies are still investigating what led up to the two deaths.
