Seaford man charged in Salisbury crash that killed family of 3, including 1-year-old
A Seaford man is charged with negligent auto homicide, driving under the influence and other offenses following a May 19 multi-vehicle crash in Salisbury, Maryland.
Jay Richard Bynum, 59, was driving a Dodge Durango north in the southbound lanes of Route 13, south of St. Luke's Road, when he struck a Subaru Impreza head-on, Maryland State Police said in a news release. He was flown to a Baltimore hospital for his injuries.
Two of the occupants of the Impreza, 21-year-old Dean Alexander Dennison and 20-year-old Sierra Rain Merchant, were killed in the crash. Their 1-year-old child, Grayson Dennison, later died at a hospital.

Maryland State Police announced Monday that Bynum is charged with three counts each of:
Negligent manslaughter by auto
Criminal negligent manslaughter by vehicle
Negligent auto homicide by motor vehicle while under the influence
Homicide by motor vehicle while impaired
He is also charged with driving under the influence and driving while intoxicated. He is being held without bond.
The crash remains under investigation.
