Search underway for 2 missing at Lake Mead

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A search was underway Thursday for two people missing at Lake Mead, a spokesperson for the National Park Service confirmed.

The two people were last seen at the lake on Tuesday, the spokesperson said. The search began that day.

The spokesperson said the park service had no other details to provide.

A witness told 8 News Now that a man disappeared at the lake around 6 p.m. Tuesday. It was unclear who the second person was.

The Lake Mead National Recreation Area is the deadliest national park in America. A total of 145 deaths including 47 drownings have occurred at Lake Mead, with Grand Canyon National Park reporting the second-most at 97 deaths.
