Seatbelt traffic stop turns into drug bust, NMSP reports

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) arrested a man after they made a traffic stop on July 16.

In the afternoon, an officer stopped for a seatbelt violation, but the passenger had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was identified as Jesse Angel Tredway, 19.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for Tredway’s backpack and alleged they found cash, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and “other items used in trafficking illegal drugs.”

Tredway was taken to the Santa Fe Adult Detention Center for trafficking (6 counts), distribution of a controlled substance (5 counts), violation of cannabis trafficking regulations, and wearing no seat belt.
