Second suspect charged with capital murder in Landmark Lodge shooting in Fort Worth

A second man has been arrested and charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a 23-year-old at a west Fort Worth motel, according to police.

Angel Lara, 18, was arrested Monday and charged with capital murder in the death of Sergio Navarro on July 1 at the Landmark Lodge motel, 7501 Camp Bowie West Blvd., according to police records. Kendrale Carter, also 18, was arrested that same day, also on a capital murder charge.

Officers responding to reports of a shooting that afternoon found two people with gunshot wounds, according to police. Both were taken to the hospital, where Navarro, 23, died less than an hour later.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has listed his cause of death as a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Homicide detectives believe the fatal shooting may have started as a robbery.

Police did not respond to a Star-Telegram request Monday for a copy of the arrest warrant affidavit for Lara or more information on his involvement.
