SERIOUS CRASH: Ogden Canyon closed in both directions

UPDATE 2:30 p.m.: Two people are confirmed deceased after Saturday’s crash in Ogden Canyon, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

A tow truck carrying heavy equipment was reportedly heading eastbound in the canyon around milepost 8 while an SUV carrying five people was traveling westbound.

While the cause is unclear, the equipment fell off the back of the tow truck onto the SUV, killing two of the occupants in the vehicle.

Three others were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to UHP.

The tow truck driver was uninjured in the crash. The road will remain closed for at least the next two hours.
