Sheboygan scammer accused of selling used Kwik Trip gift cards for fundraiser in custody

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WFRV) – Shortly after receiving reports of a man who was selling old and used Kwik Trip gift cards for his son’s Little League team, officers in Sheboygan took him into custody.

A Facebook post from the Sheboygan Police Department on the afternoon of July 11 asked the public for help identifying the suspect who was accused of selling $20 Kwik Trip gift cards to allegedly benefit his son’s Little League baseball team.

The release also noted that officers believed the suspect’s son was with the man while he was reportedly selling the gift cards.

A resident, who bought a $20 gift card from the man, later discovered that it was old and had already been used.

Due to a similar incident reported in Beaver Dam, officers provided the following warning:

If you are asked to buy gift cards as part of a door-to-door fundraiser, be aware and always make sure the person selling them can provide proper documentation about their organization.

Sometime on Friday, July 12, or Saturday, July 13, the Sheboygan PD’s Facebook post was updated to say “Thanks to help from the public, this subject is in custody.”
