2 dead, 2 injured in shooting outside Aura nightclub, police identify victims

Two people died early Friday, and two others suffered injuries in a shooting outside a downtown Columbus nightclub.

Desmond Taylor 27, and Ceilin Ricard Peaks Smith, 36, died from injuries suffered in the shooting, according to Columbus police. Police have made no arrests in the shooting as of noon Friday. The two men were reportedly working as security guards at the club.

The shooting happened about 1:45 a.m. Friday outside the Aura, formerly known as the Aurora Dance Club at 205 N. 5th St.

When officers arrived, they found four adults with gunshot wounds.

Taylor, died at the scene while Peaks Smith died at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center. The two other unidentified victims are hospitalized but are expected to survive their injuries.

Columbus police have not publicly said whether they have any suspects in the shooting or a suspected motive, however, police at the scene told NBC4 that the shooting stemmed from an argument that happened outside the club.
