Shreveport flights canceled due to Hurricane Beryl

As Hurricane Beryl makes landfall across the Texas coast, Shreveport Regional Airport reported that some flights have been canceled due the disturbance.

According to Shreveport Airport Authority Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Mark Crawford, all United Airline flights to Houston, Texas have been cancelled for the day.

United Airlines is offering waivers related to the storm-- travelers will be able to rebook travel within certain parameters without penalty.

These flight cancellations are part of more than 1,370 U.S. flights that have been canceled or delayed due to Hurricane Beryl.

On Monday, July 8, Hurrican Beryl made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane around 4:30 a.m. near Matagorda, Texas-- a coastal community between Corpus Christi and Galveston, Texas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the City of Houston received three to six inches of rain causing flash flooding across parts of the city and is expected to see two to four inches of rain as the day continues.

NWS also reported that a weather service office in Houston recorded an 81-mph wind gust.

According to USA TODAY, Beryl is expected to weaken as it moves further inland. Beryl has left more than 1.5 million customers without power in eastern Texas.
