Sioux City NAACP condemns racial slurs written near park
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Sioux City chapter of the NAACP has issued a statement on a recent act of vandalism near a local park.
The Sioux City NAACP said on Saturday, Oct. 26, that graffiti containing “racial slurs and hateful imagery” had been found recently. In a provided photo, multiple instances of a slur can be seen inscribed into cement, along with the phrase “Trump 2024.”
“This incident is a painful reminder of the work that remains to eliminate hate and discrimination in our city,” the NAACP’s statement reads in part. “We stand with our community in calling for swift action to address this disturbing event.”
The statement also urged local authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly and called on the community to reject racism and foster inclusivity.
