Homegrown and Handmade Market, a 600-square-foot shop on Monroe Ave. in the Upper Monroe neighborhood, will close after five months in operation, it announced on Instagram.

The shop is like a farm market in store form, with local produce sold side-by side with products made within a few miles of Rochester.

"We do have some bad news to share," the post read. "Unfortunately, due to lack of interest and demand with the store, we will be closing August 31st. We will keep regular hours through the end of July them switch to primarily Sundays during August while we clear our as much inventory as we can. We thank everyone who had shopped with us since we opened in March, but the market has spoken and it is time unfortunately time to step away."
