Son of cold case Cape Coral killer on death row, pleads guilty to child pornography
The son of a convicted killer sentenced to death, who was arrested at a North Fort Myers tent on child pornography charges and has since remained in custody, changed his plea Wednesday.
Zachary Kane Zieler, 33, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of possessing, controlling or intentionally viewing of material including sexual conduct by a child before Lee Circuit Judge Margaret Steinbeck, who adjudicated him guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
The state dropped one count of transmission of child pornography.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents arrested Zieler on 10 felony counts of possession of child sexual assault material.
He is the son of Joseph Zieler, who last year was sentenced to death in the 1990 cold case murders of 11-year-old Robin Cornell and Lisa Story, 32.
Authorities said they began their investigation on Dec. 24, 2023, when agents identified a peer-to-peer platform user offering files suspected to be child sexual abuse material.
