One small step

I am so proud of the family-owned and run ice cream parlor in Ocean Springs for their recycling program that saves their logo printed plastic cups. When started, it cut their waste bin volume in half. More importantly, it keeps that plastic out of the ecosystem plus reduces petroleum products needed to make the cups. In the big picture, sure, it is a tiny effort, but many efforts like this could add up. Great example set.

Rep. Thompson

So U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson has put forth a bill that would strip Secret Service protection for a anyone who qualified for it, but was convicted of a felony and sentenced to one year of jail. This is despicable and this man should resign immediately. He’s totally clueless as to what’s going on in this country. He’s an embarrassment to the state of Mississippi and I wouldn’t be surprised if his fellow congressmen, including Democrats, are laughing behind his back.

This, too

Since a staffer on U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson’s payroll has been fired for posting on social media a wish that the gunman had better aim, Thompson should resign for fomenting such hate in his circle. At the very least, he should be censured for introducing legislation to remove Donald Trump’s Secret Service detail.

A losing battle

Costco took rotisserie chicken out of hard, clamshell packaging and put it in plastic bags, as did Walmart before it. Costco says bags will save 17 million pounds of plastic annually, and as bags transport more efficiently, Costco can remove 1,000 of its freight trucks from the road, which, in turn, means a reduction of 4,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually. Despite the environmental friendliness, people complain. That attitude is why we can’t solve climate change or even get people to reduce, reuse or recycle.

Trump’s ramblings

I am trying to understand why anyone would support Donald Trump for president. The only thing I can think of is that FOX News and Newsmax never report any of Trump’s ramblings where he combines lies with nonsense. It’s unsettling to see or read.

This is it?

What a sad period for the U.S. with the upcoming presidential election. Donald Trump is a pathological liar and President Biden shows signs of dementia. I don’t ever recall an election where both candidates are so unfit to lead our republic. The phrase “In God We Trust” is certainly appropriate in these times, because it’s difficult to trust the two presumptive presidential nominees. Where’s Bernie Sanders when we need him the most?

Minds made up

In reality, there’s much ado about not much. Whether President Biden stays or leaves, Democrats will vote Democratic and almost all Republicans will vote Republican. As Donald Trump said years ago, ”I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue, shoot somebody, and not lose a vote”. He’s done just about everything else and it hasn’t changed Republican mentality. It is Independents that will decide the next president.

Look in the mirror

We’ve all known for four years that President Biden was not capable of being president. Now Democrats are running around with their hair on fire, not stopping at the mirror and blaming the reflection.

How the system works

Ward 4’s election will be determined after absentee ballots are counted. There is no whining about fraud; not yet anyway. I guess we need to wait to see who wins. That’s the Donald Trump plan.

Donald Trump’s name is all over the Jeffrey Epstein documents. Why isn’t this all over the news ?

How far we’ve fallen

A MAGA follower wrote on a local radio show’s chat room conversation that he prefers a well-spoken criminal over Biden for president. I take issue with the well- spoken description. A criminal though. That’s how far the electorate has fallen.

Here’s an idea ...

President Biden and Donald Trump should get on a live TV stage and be hooked up to lie detector machines.
