UPDATE: SB I-25 reopened near South Academy exit after Thursday crash

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) southbound I-25 has reopened between South Academy Boulevard and Mesa Ridge Parkway after a crash on Thursday night, June 20 closed the portion of the interstate for about three hours.

CDOT initially posted about the crash on its X page (formally known as Twitter) around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday and said the area was reopened to traffic just before 11:45 p.m.

Southbound I-25 is closed at South Academy Boulevard due to a crash between South Academy and Mesa Ridge Parkway, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).

CDOT posted about the crash shortly before 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 20. Southbound traffic is being diverted at South Academy, and heavy delays are expected.

Travelers are urged to use caution in the area, and plan alternate routes.
