Southwesterly winds with gusts up to 35 mph, combining with humidity levels of around 6% to 10%, will create critical fire weather conditions, according to the National Weather Service.

These conditions are anticipated to primarily impact southwest Utah on Sunday and Monday afternoons, the NWS stated.

“Any new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly,” NWS stated.

What is a Red Flag Warning?

A Red Flag Warning is issued when the combination of dry fuels and weather conditions support extreme fire danger.

The warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or are imminent. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
