Space Launch Delta 45: Emergency response exercises underway at Patrick, Cape Canaveral
Don't be alarmed at sightings of emergency responders, military personnel or simulated incidents near U.S. Space Force installations over the next few days.
That's the word from Space Launch Delta 45 officials, who said Monday that emergency response and readiness exercises will be conducted at Patrick Space Force Base and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station through Dec. 12.
The exercises, which are meant to test and improve Space Launch Delta 45's operations, will involve simulated launched-related incidents on or near the agency's installations.
In a release, Emre Kelly, a spokesperson for the U.S. Space Force, said there would likely be emergency responders and military personnel present.
"These exercises are pre-planned and are part of routine readiness training," Kelly said. "There will be no threat to the public and all safety precautions will be in place to ensure minimal disruption to surrounding areas."
The activities are designed to test and improve operations that support national security requirements amid GreatPower Competition and evolving global threats, Kelly said.
