St. Clair County man killed in I-59 crash

ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A Steele man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-59 in Etowah County on Sunday afternoon, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Douglas Loveless, 35, was fatally injured when the Nissan Sentra he was driving departed from the road, hit a tree and struck an embankment. Loveless, who was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 2:42 p.m. about five miles north of Gadsden. Troopers with the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating.
