St. Gabriel Police Department K9 unit gets protective body armor
ST. GABRIEL, La. (BRPROUD) — One of the St. Gabriel Police Department K9 units was given protective body armor.
According to the police department, K9 Dino was gifted a vest from Vested Interests in K9s, Inc. The vest will protect K9 Dino from bullets and stab attempts.
Vested Interests in K9, Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts, whose mission is to protect law enforcement dogs.
K9 Dino’s vest was sponsored by the Shirk family of Redmond, Virginia and is expected to reach St. Gabriel within eight to 10 weeks, according to police.

To be eligible for a vest, the dog must be 20 months old and actively employed and certified by law enforcement agencies.
