State of emergency declared in 4 Ohio counties
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A state of emergency has been issued for four counties in northeast Ohio.
Gov. Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency Tuesday for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties. The counties have been subject to a significant amount of lake effect snow with more severe weather expected within days, including snow squalls and wind gusts above 40 mph.
In all affected counties, 157 trucks are on the roadways working to clear snow.
As of Dec. 1, troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to 54 crashes combined in the counties.
“In addition to the support the state has already provided, we anticipate that more state resources will be necessary as the week progresses,” said DeWine. “This proclamation readies our state agencies to assist the impacted counties without delay.”
