State fire marshal, coroner investigating occupied Warren house fire

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — First News has confirmed an elderly man has died as a result of a fire in Warren Sunday afternoon.

It happened around 3:15 on Victoria Street SW.

A man with the assistance of his neighbor was able to get out of the home but collapsed and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Fire Chief Ken Nussle says the victim is a 72-year-old man.

At this point, the State Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the fire. Nussle says investigators have determined the fire originated in the living room.

Deputy Chief Communications Officer Tom Brockman for the Ohio Department of Commerce said an autopsy is scheduled for Monday on the victim.
