State police respond to three reports of domestic disputes
Aug. 13—State police have responded to three reports of domestic disputes in recent days.
In one incident, they charged Kenneth D. Sloan, 67, of Macomb, with first-degree criminal contempt, aggravated family offense, and second-degree harassment.
Police said they responded to Sloan Road in the town of Macomb at approximately 7:09 p.m. Sunday for a report of a domestic dispute. They said their investigation determined that Sloan and the victim were involved in a verbal argument. They said he continued to get close to the victim, yelling at them, calling them derogatory names, and getting physical by pushing the victim, who was able to get away and contact law enforcement. The victim had an active order of protection in place against Sloan.
He was arraigned in Town Court and was remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of a $1,000 cash or $1,000 bond.
A second incident took place in Franklin County on Sunday, with state police charging Darrell J. Dissottle, 54, of North Lawrence, with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.
State police said they responded to Taylor Road in the town of Bangor at approximately 3:47 a.m. for a report of a domestic dispute. They said their investigation determined Dissottle was involved in a verbal argument with the victim, which led to Dissottle punching the windshield of a vehicle and damaging it. Dissottle allegedly continued to argue while state police were conducting their investigation, interfered with the investigation, and refused to listen to commands.
He was arraigned in Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
State police responded to a third report of a domestic dispute at approximately 1:51 p.m. Saturday on Pine Street in the village of Norwood and charged John A. Vari, 62, of Norwood, with third-degree menacing.
They said their investigation determined that Vari and the victim were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical when he threw a firework and pulled the victim's hair. He also allegedly took a glass ceiling light cover and threatened the victim with it before leaving the residence prior to law enforcement's arrival.
He was arraigned in Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
