Sundance Steakhouse & Saloon set to close

After more than 40 years, a Fort Collins fixture on the eastern edge of town is closing its doors.

The Sundance Steakhouse & Saloon will close at midnight on July 26, according to an announcement posted to the Sundance Facebook page early Sunday morning.

The Fort Collins fixture on the eastern edge of town will shut its doors for good after more than 40 years in business.

The bar, restaurant and music venue — once known for its "Wild West" reputation complete with covered wagons, a mechanical bull and 25-cent drink specials — is closing at the end of its lease. The decision comes after the business was "not able to come to a fair agreement with the property owners to ensure appropriate renovations were completed to extend our lease," the Sunday announcement read.
