Suspect accused of killing dog during drive-by shooting in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A suspect accused of killing a dog during a drive-by shooting at an Abilene home has been arrested.

Michael Townley was taken into custody Tuesday for Deadly Conduct in connection to the allegations.

Court documents state a suspect, later identified as Townley, fired at least two shots at the home of his ex-girlfriend in Abilene while he was traveling to Louisiana.

A two-year-old Chiweenie, who was inside the home, was struck by one of the bullets and killed.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspect with a uHaul trailer, which the documents state matched the description of the trailer Townley had rented to move to Louisiana.

The documents also claim Townley had a 9mm handgun in his possession when he was arrested in a different state, and the casings from this gun match the casings found at the scene of the shooting.

Townley now remains held in the Taylor County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
