Suspect arrested in August shooting Downtown

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A suspect has been arrested in connection to an incident in August in which a man was shot and his child was threatened by the suspect Downtown.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), 27-year-old James Patterson was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 18 on First Degree Assault and Felony Menacing charges.

Officers originally responded around 7 p.m. on Aug. 30 to the 800 block of Bijou Court, east of Acacia Park, on reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man who had suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The victim told police that an unknown man had shot him, and that the victim’s underage child was reportedly menaced by the suspect before the suspect fled in a dark colored van.

Patterson was identified by detectives as a suspect and was arrested by the Assault Unit and Armed Violent Offender Unit on Wednesday. He was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
