Suspect arrested after reports of shots fired Tuesday night in Erb Park

APPLETON - The Appleton Police Department is investigating a disturbance Tuesday night in Erb Park after a report of shots fired near the park.

Officers responded at 8:14 p.m. and identified 19-year-old Tyrese Tupac Shakir Simmons as the suspect. He was taken into custody at 8:23 p.m., and taken to the Outagamie County Jail. Police also recovered a handgun at the scene.

Shakir Simmons was charged with on two counts of felony bail jumping, felon in possession of a firearm, disorderly conduct, second degree recklessly endangering safety, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting/obstructing.

Appleton police believe all individuals involved in the incident have been identified and located.
