Suspect in Dothan nightclub murder arrested on assault charges while out on bond
DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A man accused of shooting a “good Samaritan” to death outside of a Dothan nightclub last year has been arrested on assault charges less than a month after being released from the county jail on bond.
Raheem Powe was arrested in the early morning of Wednesday, July 3, and charged with one count of domestic violence strangulation.
Dothan Police tell WDHN that Powe choked his girlfriend during an argument until she became unconscious. The woman was transported to Flowers Hospital for treatment.
Powe was previously held in the Houston County Jail on a murder charge until he posted a $150,000 bond last month. He is one of three people charged in the March 2023 deadly shooting of Shane Felder.
Dothan Police say Felder was shot to death in the parking lot of the Pearl Lounge and Grill in the 2800 block of Ross Clark Circle after attempting to de-escalate an argument involving Powe.
After this most recent assault arrest, Houston County Assistant District Attorney Robert Black requested Powe’s bond be revoked.
Judge Christopher Richardson is expected to rule on the request sometime Wednesday.
