Suspect in Nashville rape case taken into custody in Hendersonville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Hendersonville man has been arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated rape, following an incident in Nashville late last month, according to authorities.

Through investigative work and a private license plate reader, the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said 41-year-old Frank Cabrera was identified as the man allegedly responsible for aggravated rape, burglary, and theft against a woman who met him at a bar along Elysian Fields Road on May 26.

According to officials, the victim said she brought Cabrera back to her apartment complex common area when he entered her apartment without permission. He reportedly groped and sexually assaulted her inside the apartment, only stopping after the victim used a charging cable to choke him.

Police said the victim locked the door after the suspect left her apartment, but the surveillance footage shows Cabrera forced his way back inside. Then, he allegedly stole the victim’s purse with her car keys inside.

Authorities said the victim’s vehicle was stolen, but it was later discovered at a gas station, where Cabrera was seen fleeing to a nearby store on the surveillance video.
