Suspicious package at Chester post office is false alarm, investigators say

CHESTER — A suspicious package left in front of the post office building here late Wednesday afternoon turned out to be a false alarm, Chesterfield Police said.

Nearby businesses, including a convenience store and a Chick-Fil-A, were evacuated while authorities checked out the scene. It all happened around 5 p.m. at the post office on Rock Hill Road near state Route 10.

Federal investigators determined the package was not dangerous, and nearby businesses were reopened.
