AT&T, Compudopt to provide 50 laptops to Midland students and families

Jul. 29—AT&T and Compudopt are providing 50 refurbished laptops to Casa de Amigos to distribute to Midland students and families in need. The computers, funded by an AT&T contribution, will be given to recipients who were pre-selected prior to this event.

The event is set for 11 a.m. July 31 at MLK Center, 2300 Butternut Lane, Midland.

Community leaders and volunteers will be onsite to help distribute the laptops.

Texas State Representative Tom Craddick, Tonya Eckert, Executive Director, Casa de Amigos, Leslie Ward, State President- AT&T Texas, and Matt Foster, Director, External Affairs, AT&T Texas will be on hand.

U.S. Census Bureau data indicate almost 2.8 million households and 7 million people in Texas lack broadband access, an issue known as the digital divide.

This effort is part of the AT&T Connected Learning initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
