Teen accused of making bomb threats against Wade Hampton High before first day of school
A Greenville 15-year-old was arrested after being accused of making a bomb threat at Wade Hampton High School.
According to Lt. Ryan Flood of the GCSO, the girl was arrested Wednesday around midnight after she was found to have sent multiple emails to the high school that included threats to use a bomb the day before the first day of school.
According to Flood, school staff received two emails from the teen on Aug. 5 and Aug. 7 and reported her to law enforcement.
Due to the teen's age, their name and identity will not be released.
Law enforcement used an IP address and other evidence to identify the girl as the person who made the threats.
Wade Hampton’s first day of school was Thursday. According to the district, the EVOLV weapon detectors were placed at the high school as a precaution despite the teen's arrest the night before.

The Greenville County School District began using the EVOLV detectors in 2022, and they are rotated to different schools in the district. The detectors use motion sensors to track objects in a student's possession that could look like a weapon.
According to the school district, the teen will also be recommended for expulsion.
The juvenile was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice Center in Columbia and will face two charges of conveying bomb threats.
