Teen arrested after another teen found fatally shot in vehicle in Phoenix

Phoenix police were investigating a shooting that left a teen dead. On Monday, another teen was taken into custody in connection with the death.

Just after 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to calls of a shooting in the area near East 24th Street and South Fifth Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy, identified as Aidan Apel, with gunshot wounds in the driver's seat of a vehicle.

Apel died from his injuries on the scene.

Officers located several witnesses who identified and directed police to the suspect. According to police, the teen suspect admitted to shooting Apel.

Officials continue to investigate what led up to the incident.
