Teen boy accused of shooting woman after robbery on West Side

CHICAGO — Felony charges have been filed against a teen boy accused of shooting a 19-year-old woman following a robbery on the city’s West Side in June.

According to police, the 17-year-old boy, who has not been identified due to his age, has been charged with one felony count of attempted first-degree murder and one felony count of armed robbery with the discharge of a firearm.

Authorities say the charges stem from the teen’s alleged role in a robbery and shooting that unfolded just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, in the 3900 block of West 21st Street in North Lawndale.

Officers say the teen allegedly took property from the 19-year-old woman by force before shooting her, leaving her injured.

Authorities caught up with the teen on Friday and he was taken into custody in the 1800 block of South Komensky Avenue.

The teen made a court appearance on Saturday for a detention hearing.
