Teen carjacking suspect led deputies on high-speed chase in San Bernardino County
A teen carjacking suspect was arrested after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through San Bernardino County.
On July 4, a man told deputies two vehicles he owned that were parked outside of his home had been stolen.
The victim believed the carjackers were still near his home on the 19000 block of Tecumseh Road in Apple Valley and were taking his car for a joyride and “doing donuts.”
San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies responded to the area and found both of the victim’s cars abandoned. One car had sustained damage from hitting a parked vehicle.
Investigators discovered two suspects were involved in the carjackings and both had ditched the stolen cars before getting into a Kia Soul that was parked nearby.
A deputy later spotted the Kia Soul and attempted to pull the driver over, but he refused, leading authorities on a pursuit.

During the chase, the teen driver hit speeds of over 90 miles per hour. Spike strips were deployed and successfully punctured the suspect’s tires, eventually ending the dangerous pursuit.
Once the vehicle stopped, both suspects quickly got out and began fleeing on foot, officials said.
The driver, identified as a 15-year-old boy, was later located and arrested. Updates on the second suspect were not provided by authorities.
The 15-year-old was arrested on charges of vehicle theft and failure to yield. He was transported to the High Desert Juvenile Detention Center.
